Melbourne Victory confirms player departures

Melbourne Victory confirms player departures

Melbourne Victory wishes to confirm the departure of seven players from its 2016/17 playing squad.

Nick Ansell, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Alan Baro, Rashid Mahazi, George Howard, Alastair Bray and Lucas Spinella join Daniel Georgievski (Newcastle Jets) as departures from the playing roster that made it all the way to Sunday’s Grand Final.

Ansell, Ben Khalfallah, Mahazi and Georgievski will be best remembered for their contributions during the club’s Premiership-Championship double in 2014/15, a season in which Ben Khalfallah was also crowned as the Victory medallist.

“It’s always tough at this time of year because, inevitably, you have to farewell players,” said head coach Kevin Muscat.

“The boys leave with our best wishes and we sincerely thank each of them for their contribution.

“We will now begin the process of sourcing and recruiting some exciting new faces as we build towards the 2017/18 season.”
