Melbourne Victory signs Lachlan Jackson

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of defender Lachlan Jackson during the January transfer window as part of an 18 month deal.

The 29-year-old joins the Club from South Korean K-League 1 side Suwon FC where the left sided central defender played over 70 matches in one of Asia’s leading and most competitive competitions and is expected to add a new dimension to the Club’s defence over the balance of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Melbourne Victory Head Coach Arthur Diles said Jackson was an ideal addition to the Victory defence.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Lachlan to the Club,” Diles said.

“We have no doubt that Lachlan will strengthen our squad significantly going into the second half of the season. The Korean league is a demanding competition so we are bringing in a player who is powerful and match-hardened. We expect Lachlan to make a strong contribution to the success of Melbourne Victory this season.”

Originally from Townsville, Jackson said he was looking forward to the challenge and was appreciative of having the opportunity to play for Melbourne Victory.

“After four seasons abroad, it was the right time to return to Australia and I’m looking forward to working with such a quality team and coaching staff with the aim of securing points every week,” Jackson said.

“No matter where you play, you always want to help the team win. My goal is to bring my best alongside the rest of the playing group, to keep Victory in the best position it can be to win silverware for the Club and for the fans.”

Jackson joins the squad following Victory’s 2-0 win over Sydney FC and, subject to receipt of international clearance, will be eligible for selection for the round 17 away match against Perth Glory on Saturday night.
