Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of talented duo, Rosie Curtis and Ava Briedis to Scholarship contracts ahead of the 2022/23 Liberty A-League season.
Curtis and Briedis are graduates of Melbourne Victory’s Elite Girls Program (EGP), following the footsteps of Alana Murphy and Paige Zois to earn a position in the A-League Women’s squad for the upcoming campaign.
Both have had an impressive 2022 with FV Emerging, featuring in the NPL Victoria senior competition, and have been mainstays of the EGP, working with the Club’s coaches over several years.
Melbourne Victory Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins said he is excited to see what Curtis and Briedis can offer at A-League Women’s level.
“We’re incredibly proud to have Rosie and Ava as a part of our squad and signing their first professional contracts with Melbourne Victory,” Hopkins said.
“Both have incredible qualities that have caught the eye of everyone at Victory and this recognition is a reward for their hard work, dedication and consistent performances in the NPL and in our Academy.
The Elite Girls Program has once again delivered us senior A-League Women’s players and this pathway is an incredible platform for us to continue to develop the next generation of Australian footballers.
Curtis was thrilled to be joining the squad for the upcoming season.
“I’m excited to be part of such an incredible team to continue my football development this season. To be working with coaches like Jeff and his staff is something I’m looking forward to and I’m hoping to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way,” Curtis said.
Briedis echoed Curtis’ sentiment on being a part of the squad this season.
“It’s an honor to be working and learning from everyone involved in this team, from the players to the coaches and everyone at the Club. This is a chance for me to test myself with some of the best players in the country and I’m ready to work hard for this chance in the A-League,” Briedis said
Curtis and Briedis’ signings cap of the Club’s week of A-League Women’s announcements as pre-season preparations for the 2022/23 Liberty A-League season begin at the end of September for Hopkins’ side.
