Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of Stefan Nigro for the upcoming A-League season on a three-year deal.
The 24-year-old from Ballarat was part of Melbourne Victory’s Academy program before lifting the A-League Championship in 2018.
Victory A-League Head Coach, Tony Popovic, said Nigro will bring professionalism, determination and a deep passion for Victory to the first team.
“Stefan has had to work hard to earn a place in the A-League,” Popovic said.
“This experience has matured him as a player and is a characteristic that will give stability to our defence and the team as a whole. We are looking forward to welcoming him back to the Club.”
Nigro is excited at the prospect of returning to Victory as part of Tony Popovic’s squad.
“I started my career playing for Melbourne Victory’s Academy, made my A-League debut for Melbourne Victory and I am a Melbourne Victory supporter. I could not be more excited to be coming back home,” Nigro said.
“My football journey has seen me have to work hard for opportunities, but it has also made me a stronger and more determined player. I cannot wait to bring this experience back to my club and to play under Tony Popovic’s direction.”
Nigro played for Brisbane Roar in the 2018/19 season and after a gap playing for NPL Club Green Gully he returned to the A-League signing with Central Coast Mariners.
Last season, Nigro played every match for the Mariners in their rise to third on the 2020/21 A-League table.
