Melbourne Victory supports School Sport Victoria

Melbourne Victory partnered with School Sport Victoria for the second successive year, in assisting with the promotion and development of primary school and junior football programs at state and national level.

Melbourne Victory partnered with School Sport Victoria for the second successive year, in assisting with the promotion and development of primary school and junior football programs at state and national level.

Victory stars, Archie Thompson and Mate Dugandzic presented the School Sport Victoria Under-12 boys and girls State representative sides with their playing strips ahead of the School Sport Australia National Championships in Nelson Bay.

In an encouraging display the Victorian sides placed 3rd (boys) and 4th (girls) respectively.

Both teams were presented at the Melbourne Victory v Brisbane Roar match at AAMI Park, which included a lap of honour and interview on pitch with team captains.

Meanwhile the State Championships were held at Darebin in September, with the finalists playing off for the ‘Melbourne Victory Cup-.

Hampton Primary School, defeated Queen of Peace Primary School (boys/mixed) and Firbank Sandringham House defeated Ballarat Grammar School (girls). Melbourne Victory CEO Geoff Miles was on hand to present the winning teams with trophies and gift packs. Special acknowledgement must go to Hampton Primary School who have taken out the boys championship for the past three years.

The competing schools in the MV Cup were Apollo Parkways Primary Greensborough, Moe Primary, Hampton Primary School, Mt. Scopus College Burwood, St. Alipius Primary, Ballarat East, St Bernard-s Primary Wangaratta, St. Therese Primary Bendigo, Queen of Peace, Ballarat Grammar, Firbank College, Holy Eucharist Primary, Maffra Primary School, Mary McKillop Primary Narre Warren, Rowville Primary and Spring Gully Primary.

Melbourne Victory is excited to continue it-s partnership with School Sport Victoria in supporting junior football development and enjoyment.
