Melbourne Victory Men prepare to take on Western United in a Friday night clash at AAMI Park on January 10.
Claiming a late point in a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Western Sydney Wanderers in their previous game, Melbourne Victory returns to AAMI Park on Friday night.
Victory has enjoyed good head-to-head success against Western United in recent match-ups, winning two and drawing one of their three meetings during 2024.
Melbourne Victory:
Victory enters this game off the back of a crucial result against the Wanderers, helping secure their current fourth position on the Isuzu Ute A-League Men’s ladder.
The game ensured Victory broke their two-game scoreless streak, with important goals scored by captain Roderick Miranda and young pressure Ryan Teague – who converted a well-taken penalty under immense pressure.
Arthur Diles will look to build from this result and return to winning ways in a highly competitive league that sees just six points separate 1st and 7th on the ladder.
Western United:
After recording just one win in their opening seven matches, Western United pulled together an impressive four-game win streak that included shock away wins against Sydney FC and Auckland FC in consecutive games.
This run helped fire the Green and Black into the top six, an impressive feat by coach John Aloisi and his youthful squad.
However, Melbourne City put an end to United’s winning streak on Tuesday after recording a convincing 2-0 win at AAMI Park.
Western United have proven to be able to find goals from all across the park, having 12 different goal scorers so far this season – the most in the league.
