Melbourne Victory star Mark Milligan praised his team after its well-deserved 2-0 win over Perth Glory on Sunday.
Second-half goals from Besart Berisha and Leroy George at nib Stadium secured Victory’s first win of the Hyundai A-League season.
Milligan, who backed up after helping the Caltex Socceroos qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday, hailed his side for its win.
“Today was important for us,” he told Fox Sports.
“We’ve got a big week of travel this week, we go straight to Newcastle tomorrow and we knew we had to turn our season around soon.
“We’ve been playing well in patches but we haven’t really put together a full performance.
“Again, off a short week for most of us – I only trained yesterday, Jimmy (Troisi) the day before, we’ve still got Kosta (Barbarouses) to come back in. It was a good performance today in what is not easy conditions.”

Victory’s win lifted it into sixth on the table ahead of Thursday night’s clash against the Newcastle Jets.
With a busy run of internationals behind them, Milligan said his team had an opportunity.
“I’m just focused on Victory now,” the 32-year-old said.
“We’ve got a long time before a national break again and it’s a good chance for our squad to settle down and start putting some good results together.”
