Melbourne Victory is pleased to confirm that experienced defensive duo Roderick Miranda and Adama Traoré will remain at the Club for the A-League 2025/26 Season.
With young talent continuing to feature throughout the squad, the pair brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership to the changeroom.
Having joined the Club in 2021 after a decorated career in Europe playing for the likes of Benfica, Wolverhampton and Olympiacos, Portuguese defender and Victory Captain Roderick Miranda continues with the Club, after triggering a one-year extension clause in his previous contract.
Ranking amongst the highest in the team for games and minutes played last season, Miranda has maintained a high level of consistency and longevity in the heart of Victory’s defence, adding significant maturity and professionalism to the playing group.
Meanwhile, Ivorian left-back Adama Traoré has signed a new deal with Victory and will look to build upon his existing 136 appearances for the Club.
2025 Victory Medalist and midfielder Jordi Valadon said that the experience both defenders bring was hugely valuable to the team both on and off the pitch.
“For the younger players, both Roddy and Adama display outstanding leadership qualities that we aspire to emulate and their display of dedication and professionalism is second to none amongst the group,” Valadon said.
“They set an example that we all look up to, and that helps guide us as footballers as we aim to bring success to the Club.”
Providing leadership and mentoring to the young players coming through the ranks, Miranda and Traoré’s impression on the squad, shows week in and week out.
“Both Roderick and Adama are an essential part of the culture and success here at Victory,” said Director of Football, John Didulica.
“Going into each season, it’s important for us to have the right individuals setting the highest standards to not only help win matches but ensure the ongoing development of our emerging talent – something which has been key to reaching Grand Finals, having our players selected for the Socceroos and transitioning players into elite European football.
“As our Club Captain, Roderick is highly respected by everyone at the Club and alongside Adama, the pair provide a wealth of experience that will continue to push Victory to challenge for silverware in each of the competitions we play in.”
