Melbourne Victory’s NIVEA Men E-League duo, Mo Zwed and Rick Tran, displayed a spirited comeback on Match Day Two to finish sixth on the ladder.
After ending Match Day One without a combined point, the Esports pair found form on Saturday as Tran earned the ‘Player of the Day’ award.
Over the course of two days, Zwed and Tran faced their own respective opponents with the scores combined on aggregate.

Climbing the ladder
PlayStation competitor, Tran, picked up his first individual win in Round Seven – defeating Wellington Phoenix 5-1.
Zwed, who is into his fourth season with Victory, also confirmed his first win in the seventh round, beating the ‘Nix 6-1.
This gave Victory its first win of the tournament, an 11-2 win on aggregate.
In Round Eight, Tran’s goalscoring spree continued with a 4-1 victory over Western United.
Zwed secured the club’s second win of the night, holding Western to a 2-2 draw – 6-3 on aggregate thanks to a Marco Rojas equaliser.
Victory defeated Brisbane Roar 8-2 in the following round, as Tran recorded a third consecutive win and his first clean sheet of the tournament.

Zwed put in his best performance of the night in Round Ten, with a 4-0 triumph over Sydney FC, cementing another three points for Victory.
Meanwhile, Adelaide United’s ‘Jaz’, blew the competition wide open with a shock 5-0 hammering against league leaders the Newcastle Jets.
Heading into the final round, Zwed and Tran occupied sixth place on the ladder and were aiming to secure that position against an in-form Adelaide United.
Tran ran riot in his penultimate match of the evening, giving Zwed a 4-0 advantage.
The one-club man was dealt a 4-2 loss in the second leg, but a 6-4 aggregate win gave Victory all three points.
With five wins from six games on the Match Day 2, Tran’s performances helped Victory land a top-half finish.
Newcastle Jets were crowned 2021 NIVEA MEN E-League Premiers, with 28 points.
