NPL wrap: Moreland Zebras 2-1 Victory

Melbourne Victory suffered a dramatic 2-1 loss to the Moreland Zebras in the NPL2 West on Saturday.

Summary

Victory took an early lead through Jack Palazzolo, but goals from Davide Cardamone and Alec Goodwin saw the Zebras to a hard-fought win at CB Smith Reserve.

Victory struck first and it took just seven minutes away from home.

Brady Quinn played in Palazzolo with a pass over the top and the forward finished clinically into the bottom corner from an angle.

It was an otherwise even opening 45 minutes as both teams looked for a way through, with Victory looking dangerous throughout.

The Zebras continued to push to begin the second half, but Victory held firm.

That was until the 68th minute, when Cardamone drilled in a powerful finish to equalise.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages and the Zebras found it in the fifth minute of additional time as Goodwin headed in a corner.

Under-20s

Victory’s under-20s suffered a 3-1 loss to the Moreland Zebras in their top-of-the-table clash.
