What Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo had to say after Victory’s 1-0 defeat to Macarthur FC in the 2024 Australia Cup Final.
On the match…
“For me it was pretty much one-sided.”
“They had maybe two shots at goal.”
“It was a dominant performance, but we go away losing 1-0.”
“A sort of counter-attack which maybe we could’ve dealt with a bit better…but I can’t be too critical. My boys were fantastic tonight for pretty much the entire game.”
On the non-award of the penalty for the Kasey Bos challenge…
“The referees rely on [the VAR] so much that the doubt goes in their mind and they have to make a decision right there and then.”
“I think with this, when you see it on the replay, it’s very clear.”
On not selecting Daniel Arzani…
“It’s just my decision.”
“Come Round 1 he won’t be in the game either because he’s suspended. We sort of had to be ready for that scenario and I decided to do it today.”
“The issue isn’t about Daniel, it’s about the team.”
“I made a decision and I stick by it.”
On trying to break down the Macarthur defence…
“We tried, we penetrated a lot. We had numbers in the box.”
“They blocked a lot of things, they cleared a lot of things. Maybe a final pass wasn’t there.”
“They defended with 11 inside the box so it’s very hard to break down at times. But at times we did break they down very easily, so that’s something I’m pleased with.”
On Jordan Hoey’s contribution…
“Great impact.”
“Obviously he’s been training with us for a bit now.”
“[He came on] in difficult circumstances and I thought he handled it really well.”
On preparing for the A-League season…
“It’s just one of those things that you’ve got to deal with.”
“I’ve always thought process first and we’ve just got to continue working hard.”
“Tonight, for me, showed really good signs especially going into the start of the season.”
