Post-Match Reaction | Jeff Hopkins on Perth draw

Head Coach Jeff Hopkins spoke to the media after Victory’s 1-1 draw against Perth Glory.

On the performance…

“Obviously we came here looking for three points.”

“What the game showed me is that there is still a lot of belief in this team, a lot of character in this team.”

“We played against a very good side who play a real difficult system for us to negotiate.”

“We struggled against their system in the first half without really conceding too much.”

“I thought the way that we played in the second half was much better.”

“I’m really looking froward to going back to the hotel and watching the game.”

On Alex Chidiac’s game…

“It was a kind of grinding, hard-working performance.”

“We didn’t get her on the ball in the positions that we hoped for.”

“The great thing about Chids is that she wants to work and work hard for the team. She’ll do any job you ask her to do.”

“It’s a credit to her that she went out and put in that type of performance.”

On Emily Gielnik’s return…

“She’s been raring to get back.”

“We’ve been holding her back a little bit…she’s only got one speed and that’s 100{d37f3b5c0f45ab6344599bea986db5dbb532ffb1a96783d731021207b3d302e4} flat out.”

“We had to make sure that when we brought her on that she had enough of a base to make sure that she didn’t re-injure herself.”

“Really pleased for her, she’s worked so hard. Well done to our medical team as well.”

On looking ahead to Canberra next week…

“[This performance] definitely gives us a lot of confidence.”

“We’ve made a small step forward today.”
