Post-Match Reaction | PK on Quarter Final Win

Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo shares his thoughts after Saturday’s Australia Cup Quarter Final win.

On the performance…

I think it was a good test and we showed some good things last night and scored some great team goals. In the second half, I think we dropped a bit and we need to improve that part of our game.

I can’t fault the players in the first half but we need to improve that second period. I think we dropped off a bit but we’ll learn and take it into the next game.

On what impressed the most with the strong first half…

I think it’s the type of goals that we scored, we were working hard at training and doing certain things where we saw tonight. I think all three goals typified the work we have been doing so that was pleaseing but we still know there is still a lot of work to do.

On the upcoming game…

Every game is a test and we have another one this week. We’ll prepare for it as we have been doing for every game this pre-season and its a chance for us to work during the week for a big game on the weekend so we’ll head back, recover and start to prepare accordingly.

On Vergos’ performance…

Niko came from overseas so he has taken some time to adjust but in training he has been performing well and in the game he is being rewarded for his work. Does he need to be more? Yes. Can he do more? Yes but the pleasing thing is he is getting into great positions created by the team around him.

If you see the goals he scored, they’re goals that have been him finishing off good team work

On the defence’s chemistry building…

They’ve got a general trust and understanding and got a good relationship on and off the pitch as well which helps. I’ve always said we defend from the front and it makes it makes it easier for everyone to do their job.

But again, they’ve been great. The leadership on and off the pitch, the connection. It’s not just them through, you’ve got Jason Geria, Kasey Bos, Jordi Valdon and Ryan Teague sitting in front of them that all play an important role.

We just need to work more, work harder and and keep pushing.

On a home tie in the semi final…

It’s a massive opportunity for us because we know how important they are and how passionately they support our team and build an atmosphere.

It’s a great opportunity to make a cup final, its a awesome opportunity for our fans to see us at home this pre-season and we’re looking forward to the match.
