Privitelli and Williams to be honoured at Victory double header

Melbourne Victory will celebrate the careers of Lia Privitelli and Lydia Williams at this weekend’s Original Rivalry double header.

Each of their playing achievements and contributions to Victory will be recognised during an action-packed match day at AAMI Park on Saturday, December 13.

Adelaide United are the visitors, with a repeat of last season’s Ninja A-League Women’s semi-final fixture, kick-off 4:50pm, followed by a much-anticipated Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s clash, kick-off 7.35pm.

Privitelli devoted the entirety of her stellar nine-year professional career to Melbourne Victory, having debuted against Adelaide back in 2016.

The midfielder played a key role in securing the Club’s first Women’s Premiership in the 2018/19 season, and wore the armband as Jeff Hopkins’ team secured back-to-back Championships in 2021 and 2022.

In total, she made 96 A-League appearances for Victory, scoring six goals, as well as featuring twice in the AFC Women’s Champions League.

Williams’ professional journey, which started at Canberra United, where she won an A-League double in 2011/12, took her around the globe in both domestic and international competition.

The goalkeeper, a proud Noongar woman, was capped 104 times for the Matildas, alongside playing club football in North America and Europe, notably wearing the colours of Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Paris Saint-Germain.

Her playing career concluded at Victory, where she made 11 outings, but Williams remained at the Club, moving into the position of Community Engagement Officer, a role that includes development in the First Nations spaces.
