Sanfrecce Hiroshima has secured the final spot in AFC Champions League Group F following a tense play-off win against Chiangrai United on Tuesday night.

The J1 League side won a penalty shootout 4-3 to overcome the Thai outfit.

Sanfrecce will now join Melbourne Victory, China’s Guangzhou Evergrande and South Korea’s Daegu FC in Group F of the 2019 AFC Champions League.

There is now the possibility of former Victory fan favourite, and current Sanfrecce striker, Besart Berisha returning to Melbourne for Match Day 6 at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Berisha signed for Sanfrecce in July 2018, following a successful four-year stint with Victory that included two Hyundai A-League Championships.
