Melbourne Victory has received notification from FIFA’s Player Status Committee that the club’s request for an International Transfer Certificate for Costa Rican midfielder Marvin Angulo has been denied.
In line with Hyundai A-League Player Contract Regulations, Melbourne Victory, through Football Federation Australia, lodged a request for an International Transfer Certificate for Angulo as an injury replacement player for Billy Celeski.
FIFA’s Player Status Committee denied the request on the basis that Angulo was contracted to Costa Rican side Club Sport Herediano at the time of the application and the pending loan agreement fell outside of the Hyundai A-League transfer window.
Angulo can be officially registered as a Melbourne Victory player when the Hyundai A-League transfer window opens on January 1 and available for selection for the club’s match against Newcastle Jets on January 10.
