Valeri: We will improve

Melbourne Victory captain Carl Valeri firmly believes his side has put in the hard yards required to get a win against Brisbane Roar on Sunday.

Following a hard-fought loss against Adelaide United last Friday night, Valeri is confident in his side’s abilities and hard work.

“We’re going to put all our energy into Brisbane this weekend, there’s a lot of things we can improve on and we will,” Valeri said.

“Brisbane is a tough team, we always have a great game against them and (there’s) a lot of experience in their squad as well.”

The key midfielder is aware of the frustration that is being felt by fans after a disappointing start to the season.

“The fans would be frustrated just like we are, but we’re working hard to change that, we really are. We understand how important our fans are, we love our fans.

“At Victory we are expected to be at the top, that’s where we want to be, and that’s where we’ll strive to be until it’s mathematically impossible.”

Valeri admits the loss of dominant midfielder Mark Milligan to a hamstring injury is disappointing, but remained confident that he will be back in the side soon.

“I believe he’s training well, he’s doing all the right things so he’s just ticking off all the boxes.”
