Melbourne Victory is proud to announce Shepparton as hosts for the Ninja A-League fixture against Newcastle Jets as part of a special regional football showcase.
Victory’s Round 16 fixture on Saturday, February 7, kick-off 5pm AEDT, played at John McKewen Reserve, Shepparton Sports City, Victoria’s premier regional football precinct, will headline a multi-day engagement program featuring school clinics, a masterclass program, and community coaching workshops for local clubs and aspiring players.
Delivered in partnership with Greater Shepparton City Council, the initiative further strengthens the growing connection between the Club and the region.
The Club will also be working across schools and community services to provide people from all backgrounds with access to quality football opportunities. These programs will build a foundation for local communities to continue delivering programs that use football as a vehicle to connect communities.
This visit builds on Victory’s previous partnership activities in Shepparton and reinforces the Club’s commitment to delivering elite football experiences in communities across Victoria.
Melbourne Victory Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, said bringing the A-League Women’s side to Shepparton for a competitive fixture represents an important step in creating meaningful pathways for young players in regional areas.
“We’re delighted to return to Shepparton with our A-League Women’s team. This initiative strengthens our commitment to the region and provides a significant opportunity to further develop our connection with football fans and participants across regional Victoria.
“Melbourne Victory is committed to creating genuine access to the world game for all Victorians, and programs like clinics, workshops, and direct engagement with our ALW stars help nurture the next generation of football players and fans.”
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, added:
“Our community has a proud football history, and this is a fantastic opportunity not only for football fans but for everyone who enjoys seeing elite sporting talent in our own backyard.
“We are excited to welcome Melbourne Victory to our region for one of its home games. Greater Shepparton prides itself on hosting high-level events, and this will be no exception. It’s a remarkable opportunity for our aspiring female footballers to witness some of the best players in Australia.
“I want to thank Melbourne Victory for their confidence and commitment to our region. We are excited to strengthen this partnership and look forward to the incredible outcomes it will deliver for our community into the future.
“I also want to acknowledge Council’s Events team for their tireless work behind the scenes. Without them, this event would not be possible. I encourage everyone to get along to the match in February.”
