Melbourne Victory-s Managing Director, Richard Wilson, said the club takes their community social responsibility very seriously. “Within the first year of the Kickin- Around with Victory programs we-ve been able to reach 12,000 students with the objective of leveraging football as a way of educating the kids.”
As part of the programs being offered, Melbourne Victory stars Archie Thompson and Jimmy Jeggo visited Toorak Primary School on Thursday to host a ‘Kickin- Around with Victory- school clinic for some very excited young students.
Kickin- Around with Victory is an initiative that sees Melbourne Victory ambassadors visit primary schools with the aim of engaging students in Grades 5 and 6, and encouraging them to play football anytime and anywhere.
Clinics run for 3 weeks in each school zone and are conducted for Melbourne Victory by current certificate 3 and 4 high school students currently undertaking SEDA-s Sports Development program, which combines football development with an educational pathway through to the Sport and Recreation Industry. Melbourne Victory players are often on hand to assist as part of these clinics.
The Kickin- Around with Victory school clinics initiative is part of Melbourne Victory-s ongoing support of the growth and development of grassroots football throughout Victorian Primary schools.
