Victory appeals Ansell suspension

Victory appeals Ansell suspension

Melbourne Victory will appeal the independent Match Review Panel’s decision to hand Nick Ansell a two-game sanction.

Ansell was sent off in the 48th minute of Victory’s 2-1 defeat to Perth Glory at HBF Park, a decision which the Match Review Panel (MRP) determined as “Serious foul play (when challenging for the ball).”

The minimum sanction for the offence is one (1) match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension. The MRP proposed a sanction of two (2) matches, being the mandatory suspension, plus one (1) additional match.

The appeal will be held before the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee next Monday evening (May 17).

Ansell will miss tomorrow night’s match against Macarthur FC.
