Victory in Business launched for 2020/21

Chairman Anthony Di Pietro

Melbourne Victory launched its 2020/21 season in style at Friday’s Victory in Business luncheon, presented by AGL Energy.

150 guests enjoyed a COVID-safe function at Crown’s Aviary that featured a panel discussion with Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Sally Capp, and Head of Leagues, Greg O’Rourke.

Melbourne Victory Chairman Anthony Di Pietro also addressed the room, praising A-League coach Grant Brebner and the squad for their achievements at the AFC Champions League in Doha.

“We had five games in 12 days, a team that had never played together, a new coaching team, minimal preparation and fitness, the odds were stacked against us.

“Despite this, we won our first ever Group Stage game away in Asia and progressed into the Round of 16.

“It was an invaluable experience for our young players and provided a great opportunity for our new look squad to spend a lot of time together and bond as a team.”

Di Pietro also discussed the upcoming 2020/21 season and the expectations for the club.

“The disappointment of season 15 has served to further strengthen the resolve of everyone at this club.

“Melbourne Victory has been 15 years in the making and we have a non-negotiable set of values, beliefs and ideals.

“Our Head Coach Grant Brebner knows all about it, he has been part of it for a long time and with his new coaching and support staff he is determined to lead Victory forward to success.

“It may not always be pretty, but it will always be the Victory way – determined, attacking, fierce, unapologetic!”

Proudly presented by AGL, Victory in Business is Australia’s largest sporting networking group outside of game day.
