Melbourne Victory defeated Sydney FC on Thursday night to go outright top of the E-League table after Round 6.

An 8-7 aggregate win over the Sky Blues was sweetened by a Melbourne City loss to Brisbane Roar.

City was the only team other than Victory who had not yet recorded a loss, therefore catapulting the latter into top spot on points.

In an unusual night for the E-League, Sydney FC had only one competitor, which meant the first leg matches were played off air prior to the 6pm official kick off. Mo accounted for his opponent 3-1 on XBOX while Sarge drew 2-2.

In the second leg, Sydney FC upped its game as it drew 3-3 with Mo before a 1-0 win over Sarge on PlayStation. Despite the scare, Victory still claimed the overall 3 points in what was the side’s toughest encounter to date. It’s a good omen for Saturday night’s A-League Big Blue at the SCG.

In Round 7 of the E-League next week, Melbourne Victory take on the Central Coast Mariners. All the action will be live on Twitch from 6pm and Fox Sports from 8pm.
