Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce that Championship-winning defender Nick Ansell has re-joined the club on a two-year deal.
A product of Victory’s youth academy, 24-year-old Ansell spent the 2017/18 season with C.D. Tondela in Portugal’s Primera Liga.
In his previous stint at the club, Ansell played an important role in the 2014/15 Premiership/Championship double.
Following the signings of Georg Niedermeier, Storm Roux and Corey Brown, the arrival of Ansell completes Head Coach Kevin Muscat’s defensive set up.
“Nick’s obviously very familiar with the club so he’ll slot back in seamlessly,” Muscat said.
“We identified defence as an area we wanted to bolster so I’m delighted to have secured so many quality signings this early in the off-season.
“It gives us plenty of time to work with the new boys, plus Tommy Deng, to ensure everyone is ready to go for Round 1.
“We’ll now turn our attention to other areas of the park and continue to add quality and depth to the playing group.”
Ansell has commenced pre-season training and will be available for selection in the FFA Cup Round of 32 match against Perth Glory.
