Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce it has signed Australia U23 defender, Dylan Ryan, ahead of the 2020/21 A-League season.
Ryan joins Victory on loan from Eredivisie club Willem II in the Netherlands, where he has been playing since 2017.
Prior to playing in the Netherlands, the 20-year-old was part of Liverpool’s youth system. His move to Melbourne will see him reunited with former Reds teammate, Jake Brimmer.
Ryan said he was excited to have signed with Victory.
“I’m really pleased to be joining Melbourne Victory this season,” Ryan said.
“Victory has a huge member and fan base and are really driven to improve and get back up the table this season.
“I’m looking forward to joining an exciting new squad that Grant Brebner has assembled this season. Grant has outlined the role he wants me to play and the vision he has for the team moving forward, and I can’t wait to play my role and help the team anyway I can this season.”
Victory Head Coach, Grant Brebner, welcomed Ryan to the Victory family.
“We are delighted to welcome Dylan to Melbourne Victory,” Brebner said.
“Dylan is a very talented young defender. His time playing for Willem II and selection in the Australian U23 side is testament to the bright future he has ahead of him. He’s also spent time in the Liverpool youth system which provides fantastic foundations for players.
“We believe Dylan will add depth to our defensive stocks this season and he is another quality addition to the squad. The players are all working hard to be ready to play and compete the way our members and fans expect of their club.”
Ryan will join the squad in Doha when Victory recommences its 2020 AFC Champions League campaign in late November.
