Melbourne Victory is proud to confirm that Alex Chidiac, Emily Gielnik, and Alana Murphy have been selected in the Matildas squad for the upcoming international friendlies in Western Australia.
Following standout performances across the 2024/25 A-League Women’s Season, Chidiac returns to the national team after claiming her second Julie Dolan Medal, while Gielnik earned the Club’s Golden Boot and finished second overall in the league’s scoring tally. This marks a return to the green and gold for both Chidiac and Gielnik, their first call-ups since 2024.
Murphy, who made her senior international debut earlier this year at the SheBelieves Cup, also rejoins the national squad.
Melbourne Victory Director of Football, John Didulica, praised the trio’s selection.
“It’s fantastic recognition for three players who have consistently delivered high-quality performances throughout the season. Their selection is a testament to their dedication, and it reflects the level of talent we’ve built in our Women’s program at Melbourne Victory,” Didulica said.
Australia will host Slovenia in two matches at HBF Park on June 26 and 29 2025, before facing Panama on July 5 and 8. These friendlies mark the first squad announcement under new Head Coach Joe Montemurro, who stepped into the role following the team’s recent series win over Argentina.
