Besart Berisha says he’s joined Melbourne Victory to win trophies at ‘the biggest club in Australia’.

The Albanian forward has been one of the deadliest players in Australian football since arriving at Brisbane Roar in 2011.

The 28-year-old won a second A-League title last season, playing a key role in his team’s success despite having already announced his decision to join Kevin Muscat’s club for the 2014-15 campaign.

And now the theatrical Albanian – a pantomime villain for many supporters across the country – wants to keep adding to his haul of silverware in a navy blue and white shirt.

“This club is definitely the biggest club in Australia,” he said.

“I think it’s a club that is very professional, has the ambition to always be the best in Australia. I’ve always respected this. It’s a privilege to be at this club, (with) the staff, the players.

“I came to this club because the ambition is to be the best in the A-League. This is what I want, to win trophies.

“The last few years I won trophies (but I’m) still hungry. I want to win more and this is why I came here. I want to win trophies.”

Muscat meanwhile indicated the arrival of a conventional centre-forward will prompt something of a change from his team in the final third.

But despite Berisha’s status as a prolific marksman, Muscat insisted his new international marquee player isn’t there just to put the ball in the back of the net.

“His history and track record speaks for itself,” the Victory coach said.

“The philosophy and the way we go about things won’t change. They’ll be slight structural changes that we’ll be working on in this pre-season. For me the obvious thing is goals but there’s a lot more to Bes.”
