Melbourne Victory’s latest recruit, Frenchman Matthieu Delpierre, says he’s ready to impart his wisdom and experience on the younger members of Kevin Muscat’s squad.

Press play on the video below to watch what Delpierre had to say in his first press conference as a Melbourne Victory player today.

Delpierre – who will wear the number 17 this season, the number he won the Bundesliga in – said he was thrilled to be in Australia and had already sought out advice from some of his former teammates who knew the Hyundai A-League well.

“I played with Tommy Oar and Adam Sarota in Utrecht,” Delpierre said.

“We talked about Australia, the A-League and I thought for me it could be a big life experience to come here. (Oar) said the league is growing ever year. It’s a good league. You can see a lot of players want to come.”

Football Operations Manager Paul Trimboli confirmed Delpierre, along with Besart Berisha and Carl Valeri would be available for selection for the upcoming FFA Cup.

“We’re excited we’ve recruited these three players and they have been board since the start of the season which is very important for the coaches as well,” Trimboli said.
