Melbourne Victory defender Adrian Leijer says Sunday night’s disappointing loss to the Jets would be quickly forgotten, with the focus turning to Friday night’s match with Perth.

Press play on the above video to hear Leijer’s thoughts on the match, the quick turnaround for Friday night’s battle against Perth and more.

Leijer, who played his 150th Hyundai A-League match last night, said while the team was gutted with the result, the players were keen to reverse their fortunes on Friday night.

“On the night we didn’t really get into our rhythm, we had good patches but unfortunately in the end it was a disappointing result,” Leijer said.

“Last night, we created half-chances, we weren’t as dangerous as we were against the Mariners. That’s the first of five home games, now it’s important we get off on the right foot against Perth on Friday night.”

Leijer said while he was proud to have reached the 150 milestone (the second Melbourne Victory player to do so behind Archie Thompson), the result was far more important.

“The most important thing was to get the win. To play 150 games, I will certainly look back with pride… but it was disappointing that we couldn’t get the win.”
