Melbourne Victory continued their pre-season campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hume City at John Ilhan Memorial Reserve on Sunday.

The boys in blue controlled the match from start to finish, with goals from Jesse Makarounas, Francesco Stella and Christopher Cristaldo wrapping up the result.

Victory had more to celebrate than just the 3-0 scoreline, welcoming duo Adama Traore and Gui Finkler back into the side following season ending injuries to both during the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season.

It was the A-League side that started brightest and fans did not have to wait long to see the boys in blue take the lead, as Makarounas linked up well with new signing Mitch Nichols, playing in his first competitive match for Victory.

The duo worked the ball down the wing, before Makarounas calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner with only 11 minutes gone.

Nichols almost turned provider for Makarounas again only a few minutes later, but a good block from Hume City-s keeper kept the score at 1-0.

Nichols was a constant menace for the Hume defence throughout and almost gave his side a two-goal cushion when his volley flew just past the post.

Goalkeeper Nathan Coe had very little to do in the first half, and was able to watch on, almost as a spectator, as Melbourne enjoyed large chunks possession against their opponents.

The second half came to life even quicker than the first, as Nichols continued an impressive debut five minutes into the half by putting in a first time cross that Francesco Stella nodded into the back of the net.

Melbourne then capped off a dominant performance five minutes from time when trialist Anthony Proia put in a low cross that Cristaldo easily tucked away to make it 3-0, sealing the win.
