Have your say and vote now for the Victory Women’s Player of the Month of March, with Melbourne Victory fans invited to choose from a trio of nominees.
Following an interrupted month from the Girls in Blue, with an international break to begin the month later coupled with a bye in Round 20, a three-player shortlist has been formed to recognise the top performers in Victory’s two Ninja A-League fixtures during March.
With shot-stopper Courtney Newbon winning the Player of the Month award for February, let’s take a look at the trio of nominees for March’s edition of the award.
Victory Women’s Player of the Month nominees
Holly Furphy
A key player in both of Victory’s fixtures against Sydney-based sides in March, athletic forward Holly Furphy finds herself back in the mix for the Player of the Month award.
Scoring the game-deciding goal against Western Sydney Wanderers at The Home of the Matildas, where she was recognised as the Player of the Match, the 23-year-old also recorded an assist for the Girls in Blue during their trip to Leichhardt Oval.
Averaging a 7.65 FotMob rating across the two games, Furphy’s involvement in both of Victory’s goals makes her a strong contender for March’s Player of the Month award.
Rachel Lowe
A consistent appearance-maker for the Player of the Month award, midfielder Rachel Lowe returns for a fourth chance to take out the prize.
Starting in both of games during March, Lowe would open the scoring in Round 21 with a stunning strike against Sydney FC, where she would also end up playing out the full match and be named as Victory’s Player of the Match.
With a 7.10 average FotMob rating this season, the fourth highest in Victory’s side, Lowe’s top performances has her as a top contender for the Player of the Month award once again.
Taylor Ray
On a streak of nine full 90 minutes completed for the Girls in Blue, Taylor Ray put in some her finest performances of the season in Victory’s March fixtures.
Recording a 7.2 FotMob rating in the 1-0 triumph over Western Sydney Wanderers, the 24-year-old holding midfielder would later follow that up with a 7.1 on the road to Sydney FC.
Ranked amongst the best players in the league in short and long-range passing, Ray has earned her first nomination for the Player of the Month award since arriving at the Club over the offseason.
Voting closes on Sunday, April 5, 11:59pm.
