Melbourne Victory’s second-half fightback was not enough to avoid defeat against Brunswick Juventus in Round 3 of the VPL.
The Boys in Blue were two down shortly after half-time at CB Smith Reserve on Friday night, leaving themselves with an uphill battle versus the Zebras.
Brunswick opened the scoring through Lewis Gilboy’s penalty in the ninth minute after Kayne Razmovski was penalised for handball. They cemented their lead with 50 on the clock when Austin Ganino converted from a dangerous delivery into the six-yard box.
Victory cut the deficit in half in the final quarter, thanks to Mikey Ghossaini’s sharp penalty-box finish, but it was not enough to push on for a share of the spoils.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, Senior Academy Head Coach, Besart Berisha, reflected on the defeat in Fawkner.
“I thought we had a good game. Besides the result, we dominated the game. We created a lot of chances again and were very unlucky not to score goals, but I believe it is a part of development for those younger players.
“If you keep playing and performing as we do and keep creating chances like we do, the performances will turn into results.”
