VPL Coaches Notes: Victory beaten by Knights

A tough first half cost Melbourne Victory in Round 2 of the VPL, as they lost 3-1 away to Melbourne Knights.

Unable to build on their success over Eltham Redbacks, the visitors conceded thrice during the opening half an hour at Tompsett Stadium on Friday night.

Former Victory striker Luka Kolic opened the scoring inside 10 minutes before teammates Michael Suski and Darcy Anastovski extended the advantage to give the Knights an unassailable lead.

Alex Lee pulled one back for Victory during first-half stoppage time, but it was not enough to mount a comeback in Sunshine North.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, Senior Academy Head Coach, Besart Berisha, talked of his pride, despite the outcome.

“I am proud of the boys, proud of how they played. A few mistakes cost us the game, but I am happy with how they continued to play our football.

“Overall, although the result didn’t go our way, we created plenty of chances. I am pleased with the creation, the football we are playing, and if we continue playing like this, I have no doubt we will have a great season.”
