Melbourne Victory were eventually beaten by Brunswick City SC in an entertaining five-goal VPL1 encounter.
The Boys in Blue scored in either half and twice led at Dunstan Reserve, but wound up losing 3-2 to the Leonidas, who now pull ahead of Victory on the ladder.
Mikey Ghossaini’s fourth goal of the 2025/26 season gave the visitors a half-time lead, but this was cancelled out 60 seconds after the break through Gerrie Sylaidos’s equaliser.
Undeterred, Victory retook the lead around the hour, thanks to Alex Lee, only for Brunswick to finish strongly, scoring twice in four minutes, with Triantafilos Skapetis and Dylan Allshorn netting to claim all three points.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, Senior Academy Head Coach, Besart Berisha, provided his reflections on the Round 5 fixture.
“We played some outstanding football for most of the game and showed real courage and quality. Unfortunately, a few moments where we switched off and individual mistakes cost us in the end.
“But I’m incredibly proud of the boys – the way they fought, the belief they showed, and the bravery of these young players. This team is growing, and performances like this show we’re on the right path.”
