Friday night lights are back at AAMI Park as we take on the Jets in a crucial early season battle.
Our final home match before the World Cup break….And 2022!
You don’t want to miss our final match at AAMI Park before the Isuzu UTE A-League breaks for the World Cup and our final home game of 2022.
With four away games coming out of the World Cup break, albeit two of them will be ‘away’ games at AAMI Park against City and Western United, you wouldn’t want to miss a real Victory atmosphere on Friday night where our home support will be the 12th man to get us over the line against a strong Newcastle side.
Break the drought
There’s no hiding from the fact we’ve gone scoreless in three matches now. But as more minutes in the league unfold, the hungrier our boys are in finding the back of the net and more importantly, picking up all three points on Friday night.
They do say when it rains, it pours and we hope the only thing raining and pouring on Friday night is goals for Melbourne Victory
Home rebound
There’s no better place to bounce back than at home. AAMI Park has been a bit of a fortress for us over the past 12 months and despite two losses at home, Tony Popovic’s side is primed to bounce back on Friday night against the Jets.
The skipper returns…and a new signing
Josh Brillante will return to the squad this week after serving a one-match ban after his two yellow cards in the Melbourne Derby. His return may see a re-shuffle in the Victory midfield to a squad that looked a lot more like Round 1.
Friday will also see new signing Bruno Fornaroli available for selection ahead of the clash against the Jets. Fornaroli signed on Monday and joins as an injury replacement to make him eligible for the match. He will look to add to his 33 league goals at the stadium which has him second on the all-time list at AAMI Park.
