Women’s Match Preview | Round 10 | Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers

Melbourne Victory Women will aim to continue their hot streak back at the Home of the Matildas against the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.

Enjoying a six game undefeated streak with two consecutive wins on the road, Melbourne Victory will be determined to extend their excellent form against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Melbourne Victory:

Victory came away with all six points on the road against Canberra United and Sydney FC respectively in their previous two games, displaying strong starts in both games and excellent defensive resilience to see out the win.

Their hot form has seen Victory create a strong spot in the top three of the Ninja A-League Women’s ladder, narrowly trailing behind Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City for the top spots.

Victory enter the game with the league’s best defensive record, conceding just eight goals in their eight games so far.

On top of this, wingers Alana Jancevski and Nicki Flannery have been standouts in recent weeks in the attacking line to cause opposition defences all sorts of issues.

Victory have enjoyed a strong head-to-head record with the Wanderers, notably defeating the Sydney-siders 4-0 last season.

Western Sydney Wanderers:

Sat 11th in the league after a difficult start to the season, the Western Sydney Wanderers have collected just five points from their opening eight games.

The Wanderers seemingly turned the corner after an impressive 5-1 win over Western United and a draw at home against Perth Glory, but a controlling 1-0 win by Adelaide United put an end to the Red and Black’s brief undefeated streak.

Despite the tough start, 18-year-old Sienna Saveska has been a standout for the Wanderers so far, scoring four goals for her side – half of the team’s entire goal tally this season.
