Victory will be looking to rebound from their Derby defeat against Melbourne City last time out, as they take on the other Victorian team at the Home of the Matildas.
Jeff Hopkins’ team have claimed three points from their opening two games, having defeated Adelaide United in the opening round of the season.
Victory will take confidence from their substantial attacking threat, having already registered five goals this season.
Emily Gielnik has led the charge, staking her claim as a candidate in the golden boot race with three goals early in the campaign.
However, the Victory attack are now preparing to come up against one of the competition’s stingiest defences in the form of Western.
Kat Smith’s team have picked up four points from their opening two games and have already re-established their status as one of the toughest teams to beat in the A-League Women’s competition.
Western got the better of Victory in both of their encounters last season, giving Victory an extra incentive to claim the points on Sunday.
A meeting between two teams expected to contend for silverware come the end of the season makes for a must-see event.
