Melbourne Victory returns to Foxtel Y-League action with a Derby clash against City on Saturday.

Summary

After starting its season with a loss and a draw, Victory enjoyed a bye in Round 3 in Conference A.

It returns to action with a trip to CB Smith Reserve as it looks for its first win of the campaign.

Yazid Said, 19, scored his second goal in as many games this season during the 1-1 draw with Perth Glory last time out.

Said played up front for Victory, which has switched to a diamond midfield and two forwards to resemble its Hyundai A-League side.

Victory was unfortunate not to take more from its clash with Perth, having enjoyed multiple good chances to grab all three points.

It meets City for the first time since April, when Victory claimed a 5-1 win in the NPL2 West.

Head coach Gareth Naven’s pre-match thoughts

on adapting to a new formation…
“It’s a growth opportunity, to implement different ways of playing, the behaviours of the individuals – that changes in regards to what you need to do when you’ve got the ball, when you haven’t got the ball – but those same principles will apply across the board. I think it’s a really good challenge, a really good opportunity to see our players learn week to week in adapting to different ways to doing things.”
