Y-League preview: Glory v Victory

Melbourne Victory is aiming to build on its win last time out when it travels to Perth Glory in the Foxtel Y-League on Sunday.

A stoppage-time penalty from Pierce Waring saw Victory past Adelaide United 1-0 in Round 4.

Victory head coach Gareth Naven said there was enough for his team to build on ahead of the clash with Perth at Dorrien Gardens.

“Collectively, the biggest thing for us was I think individuals were actually starting to play their role, asking ‘what can I do, individually, to help the team succeed?'” he said.

“If we have more of that in regards to the bigger picture of what’s required, I think you’ll get a good outcome, and you’ll stay in the game, you’ll compete in the game.

“If individuals perform their role, I think collectively the outcome is good and the performance is good.

“Some days you’ll win games and some games you’ll lose, but I think you’ll win more than you lose.”

Victory is fourth in Group A, three points ahead of the bottom-placed Glory.

Perth suffered a 2-1 loss to City in its most recent outing, but did overcome Victory 2-0 when the teams last met in January.
