Y-League preview: Victory v Adelaide

Y-League preview: Victory v Adelaide

Melbourne Victory is looking to bounce back when it takes on Adelaide United in the Foxtel Y-League at Etihad Stadium on Friday.

Victory has started the season with back-to-back losses, including going down to City 9-2 in the Derby in Round 3.

Head coach Gareth Naven said his team needed to respond to that defeat when it hosts the Reds.

“This week’s game is about redeeming that performance, that situation,” he said.

“The challenge for our group is to just think about winning your contest, understanding the shape and structure.

“And, don’t rest so much, work to always get into position and to always be ready for the competition ahead.”

Victory was beaten in Brisbane in its opening game and sits bottom of Group A.

It claimed a 3-0 win over Adelaide when the teams last met, in Round 8 last season.
