Melbourne Victory is looking for improvement when it hosts Adelaide United in the Foxtel Y-League on Saturday.

Summary

Despite Yazid Said’s third goal of the season, Victory suffered a Derby defeat to City in Round 4.

It gets the chance to bounce back at Marvel Stadium, where it hosts the Reds prior to the Hyundai A-League clash between the clubs.

Victory is searching for its first win of the season in Conference A, having drawn with Perth Glory prior to its bye heading into the Derby.

Said, 19, scored his third goal in as many games this campaign against City, tapping in a cross from Nicholas Sette, 18.

This will mark the second clash between Victory and Adelaide this season.

The teams met in Round 1, when the Reds scored late to claim a 3-2 win at Marden Sports Complex.

Head coach Gareth Naven’s pre-match thoughts

“We’re always looking to get better, and obviously more so than ever after last week’s performance. We know what we’re going into against Adelaide, who we played in Round 1, they’re a very competitive team and you need to be able to compete against that and more importantly think about what we need to do to get better from last week’s performance. We’re having a good week on the training track and we’re looking to get better before we play Adelaide at Marvel Stadium, and what a nice place for our youth players to play a match inside that stadium.”
