A proud product of the Melbourne Victory Academy, Nishan Velupillay is an electric Melbourne-born winger.

Making his senior debut in 2021, Velupillay would become a first-team regular in the 2021/22 FFA Cup-winning season, recognised as the club’s Young Player of the Year.

Velupillay would progressively receive more minutes over the next two seasons, working his way into the Australian U23s setup in 2023.

Following a remarkable showing in the 2024 Australia Cup, Velupillay received a call-up to the Socceroos’ World Cup Qualifying squad, managing to score on his debut off the bench versus China.

Registering 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions for Victory, Velupillay’s 2024/25 season was his best to date, even managing to score in two consecutive games in Green and Gold against Indonesia and China in March 2025.

Missing out on the Grand Final after suffering an unfortunate injury during Victory’s semifinal away leg in Auckland, Velupillay’s return to the pitch will be highly anticipated after taking out the Victory Golden Boot alongside Nikos Vergos.
