Melbourne Victory is looking to return to winning ways after two narrow losses, as it prepares to host Ballarat City in the PlayStation 4 NPL2 West.
Since recording a 5-2 win over Bendigo City, Victory has gone down to Werribee City (1-0) and Goulburn Valley Suns (2-1).
With just two games remaining this season, including Saturday’s clash against Ballarat at Epping Stadium, it is seeking a positive finish to the campaign.
Victory head coach Gareth Naven said he was hoping to see improvement from his team.
“I’m expecting more things to come together in regards to the performance,” he said.
“Players getting better and better, dealing with the match better, dealing with different situations better.
“And an emphasis that defending is an important moment in our game and to make sure that we develop the ability to get better and better at that, depending on the opposition and what they’re trying to do.”
Christian Theoharous was on the scoresheet for Victory against the Suns in what was the talented 17-year-old winger’s first appearance at NPL level since April.
It took his tally to seven goals this season, with Nicholas Sette having led the way on the goalscoring front with 10 in 2017.
Ballarat is sixth on the table – three places above Victory – and recorded a 2-1 win when the teams last met in May.
Victory members receive free entry to all PS4 NPL2 West home games this season. For non-members, tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for concession, with kids under 15 free.
