Muscat said Thompson, who missed the last two weeks with a slight hamstring strain, had trained well and was raring to go.
“Archie was very, very close last week and his form prior to this little niggle with his hamstring was very good,” Muscat said.
“He’s worried every defence we’ve played against and I’m looking forward to him troubling Heart tomorrow night.”
Muscat said he didn’t subscribe to the theory that players “got up” for Derby matches more than other clashes, as had been suggested opposition coach John Aloisi.
“I’d be disappointed if my players got up for a game more than any other. I wouldn’t be happy with that as it probably suggests your not getting up and not preparing for other matches.”
Melbourne Victory take on Heart on Saturday night at AAMI Park, with kick-off at 7:45pm.
