Melbourne Victory can confirm that striker Melina Ayres will depart the Club ahead of the 2023/24 Liberty A-League season.
Ayres finishes her time at Melbourne Victory with 66 A-League Women’s appearances, 28 goals and two Championships.
Melbourne Victory Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins said Ayres had played an important role at the Club and we are sad to see her go.
“Melina is an incredible talent and has played a major role in Melbourne Victory’s success over the last five years,” Hopkins said.
“She has been an asset to the team, winning the Club’s Golden Boot on two occasions, in 2020/21 and 2022/23, and has been a fierce competitor for the team up front.
“The Club and I wish Melina all the best in her future endeavours and we have no doubt she will be a success wherever she lands.”
Melina was also thankful for her time at the Club.
“Melbourne Victory is the Club I grew up supporting and has been my home for the last five years,” Ayres said.
“I have enjoyed my time at Melbourne Victory and it has been a pleasure to work with Jeff and the larger team. I will miss the Club, staff and culture.”
The Club would like to thank Melina for her contribution and wish her all the best for the future.
