Melbourne Victory sign Denis Genreau

Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce that Socceroo Denis Genreau will join the Club on a three year deal, starting with the upcoming 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Capped 6 times for the Men’s National Team, the 26-year-old midfielder joins from Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruña. 

While born in Paris, Genreau grew up in Melbourne and made his A-League in 2016 before joining PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands in 2018. Returning to the A-Leagues following that loan, Genreau then spent a successful four seasons with Toulouse FC in France winning promotion to Ligue 1 where he would go toe-to-toe with the likes of PSG and Lyon.

A dynamic and stylish footballer, Genreau’s midfield presence earned him an international call up to the Olyroos for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after which he went on to make his senior debut with the Socceroos at the AFC World Cup Qualifiers in 2022. 

Melbourne Victory Head Coach Arthur Diles said that Genreau was the ideal addition to his A-Leagues Men’s squad ahead of the upcoming season. 

“We are absolutely delighted to have Denis joining us as we aim to build on the successes we had last season,” Diles said.  

“Having spent a number of years in Europe, as well as earning national team experience, Denis has a deep understanding of elite football and we have no doubt he can have an enormous impact in the A-League.”. 

“Adding his quality in midfield to our squad will ensure we are well positioned to chase silverware in 2026.”

With his professional career bringing him back to Melbourne for the first time since 2020, Genreau said he was excited to be returning home. 

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to join Melbourne Victory, ” Genreau said. 

“Having played against Victory a number of times throughout my career, it’s always been the Club with the biggest rivalries and best atmosphere in the A-League. As a player, you always want to be part of those games, to play for clubs that have such a strong following and fan base. 

“After four seasons abroad, it was the right time to return to Australia and I’m looking forward to working with a quality team and coaching staff, under Arthur’s leadership, with the aim of securing points every week. My goal is to bring my best alongside my teammates, to put Victory in the best position it can to win silverware for the Club and for the fans.”

Genreau joins recruits Davidson, D’Arrigo, Esposito, Jelacic, Lino, Saglam, Dragicevic,  and Stella who have all joined the Club ahead of the upcoming A-Leagues season, together with Miranda, Santos, Kolic and Traore who extended their contracts with the Club and Razmovski, Mihailidis and Lazarevski who have been elevated to working with the senior squad.
