Melbourne Victory’s Leyla Hussein is set to compete for Australia in the 2026 AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup.
The 17-year-old forward has been named in Michael Cooper’s 23-player squad for next month’s tournament in China, which also serves as the qualification pathway for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Hussein and the Junior Matildas, drawn in Group B, will go up against Japan, India and Lebanon, needing a top-two finish to reach the knockout stages, beginning at the quarter-final stage.
