Melbourne Victory ran out 2-1 winners over North Geelong Warriors in Round 8 of the 2026 NPLW season.
The Boys in Blue netted in either half at the City Vista Pavilion & Sports Field to record their third win of the campaign on Saturday afternoon.
With the first half at a stalemate, striker Mikey Ghossaini, from an Emre Saglam cross, broke the deadlock with a header in the 43rd minute to give Victory an advantage going into the interval.
This was doubled midway through the second 45, thanks to a Jack Mihailidis penalty-box effort, finishing smartly beyond goalkeeper Alexander Mazzaferro.
And this proved to be the winning goal, as opposition defender Anthony Banovac pulled a goal back for the Warriors going into the closing stages.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, Senior Academy Head Coach, Besart Berisha, spoke to the mentality of his side to claim all three points on the weekend.
“Very pleased with the win against a strong North Geelong side. We dominated the game, and the players executed the plan really well. The team showed control, intensity and maturity throughout the game.
“The biggest positive was the response — we challenged them last week, and they reacted with the right mentality and intensity. That’s key for development. We are ticking a lot of boxes in terms of where we wanna be as a team and the development. Now Consistency is our next target.”
