Sawyer has ‘Lovely feeling’ joining Victory

Melbourne Victory’s latest signing, Harry Sawyer, is happy to be back in familiar settings.

The imposing centre-forward completed a move to AAMI Park on Monday afternoon, returning to a city where he has a track record of scoring goals.

In separate spells at South Melbourne, his form in front of goal landed him two Golden Boot prizes and two NPL Victoria winners’ medals.

These individual and team successes in Victoria earned him a first A-League move, joining Macarthur in 2024, and now bolstered with 42 appearances in the competition, he has made the switch to Victory.

Speaking for the first time since signing for the Club, Sawyer detailed why he was so pleased to finalise the move.

“It is a lovely feeling, to be honest. Coming back to Melbourne, I have spent some years here in the past, and I couldn’t be more happy and more excited.

“I feel like, having played the last two seasons in the A-League, and overseas before that, I really want to try and showcase my name on this stage, and there’s no better, in my opinion, club to do that than Melbourne Victory.”

Fresh from joining the squad of the new Head Coach, Giovanni Savarese, Sawyer delivered a message to the Victory supporters.

“Get excited, it is going to be a big year, both in the A-League and in Asia, and bring the noise. I have played here against Victory before, and it is a kind of terrifying but beautiful atmosphere when you’re playing here.”
