Melbourne Victory can confirm that the reigning Victory Medallist Juan Mata will attend this weekend’s Melbourne Derby.
The revered Spaniard, who won the 2026 Johnny Warren Medal, recognising an outstanding season, is back at AAMI Park for the Matchweek 2 A-League Men fixture on Saturday, October 24, kick-off 7:40pm AEDT.

Mata memorably etched his name into Derby folklore earlier this year, scoring twice in a 1-3 win for the Boys in Blue, striking spectacularly from 40 yards out, a moment of magic that reverberated around the world.
Now part of the Club’s ownership group, who will assume the chair position of a newly established football committee when he elects to retire from playing, he will address supporters inside the stadium pre-match and then complete a lap of the pitch to show his appreciation.
