Melbourne Victory host Newcastle Jets in Matchweek 3 of the Ninja A-League.
Playing on Victorian soil for the first time this season, after back-to-back road trips to start 2026/27, the Girls in Blue take on the Novocastrians at AAMI Park on Sunday, November 1, kick-off 5:45pm AEDT.
Victory head back to home comforts after building on their curtain-raiser win at Western Sydney Wanderers with a point against last term’s runners-up Wellington Phoenix, whilst the travelling Jets lost their only outing so far to Perth Glory.

The Girls in Blue
The Girls in Blue have made a more than solid start to the new campaign, claiming four points from their first two fixtures, with only one goal conceded, all before they have even kicked a ball in Melbourne.
And now, with only one game interstate for the rest of the year, there is a real opportunity for Melbourne Victory to build on this unbeaten opening chapter, starting with a team they completed a league double over last season, Newcastle Jets.
Nicki Flannery, a goalscorer in the first of these wins, made a welcome first appearance of 2026/27 last weekend, whilst the matchwinner from the other triumph, played in Shepparton, Holly Furphy, opened the scoring against Wellington Phoenix.
One goal, unlike in the Matchweek 1 clash with Western Sydney Wanderers, was not enough for all three points across the ditch, but Jeff Hopkins’ side were certainly good value for the draw against an opponent who reached May’s Grand Final.

Last time out
Melbourne Victory were held to a draw in their Matchweek Two showdown with Wellington Phoenix at Hnry Stadium.
In New Zealand’s capital, the visitors adapted well to customary windy conditions and led going into the interval, thanks to Holly Furphy reacting fastest to Victoria Esson spilling a Sophie Harding cross from the right.
Back-to-back wins were, however, denied by a sharp Makala Woods finish, assisted by a Brooke Nunn cutback, in the 63rd minute.
Newcastle Jets, after a bye in Matchweek 2, head to Melbourne looking for their first points of the season, having opened with a home loss to Perth Glory.
Stephen Hoyle’s team were undone by a 13th-minute Rola Badawiya penalty after young midfielder Josie Allan was penalised for a handball.
The hosts’ push for an equaliser at Hunter City Motor Group Stadium was led by Tamar Levin, but her late free kick struck the crossbar as the spoils went back to Western Australia.
